We feel fortunate as a firm that the men and women who join our team are deeply committed to the communities in which they live and work. In 2009, when we sought to evaluate and articulate our overall corporate citizenship, what we found was that we were a small company trying to make a big impact—and that impact stemmed from the self-motivation of both leadership and staff to participate meaningfully in their own communities.

As individuals, we want to serve, and we involve ourselves in ongoing opportunities that support a range of not-for-profit organizations. Many of us participate in annual events and fundraising endeavors both at work and at home, but the majority also participate in weekly or monthly activities that help support local health, religious, educational and cultural organizations.

Shriners Hospitals for Children

Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind international health care system dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to the age of 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment at no financial obligation to patients or families. www.shrinershq.org

National Multiple Sclerosis Society

Mobilizing people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. www.nationalmssociety.org

Each year our staff designates team captains who organize members to fundraise for and participate in the local MS Walk. A percentage of their funds is matched by the firm to support the vision of the Society of a world free from Multiple Sclerosis. In 2009, we were pleased to be on the list of 50 Top Fundraising Businesses for the National MS Society.

Habitat for Humanity

Seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. www.habitat.org

Beginning in 2010, all three of our offices will individually support their local branches by participating in construction efforts.

A Culture of Both Safety and Service

As a firm, we work hard to ensure the safety of our community’s healthcare facilities, so that they can avoid, prepare for and/or manage the effects of disaster. We take our commitment to our clients and their communities seriously, and our consultants come prepared with both expertise and passion. So much so that over 30% of our full-time consulting staff also serve their local fire departments in volunteer positions ranging from Fire Chief to firefighter. Another 30% serve on local, regional and national committees that affect industry policy and coding.

Our staff has real-world experience managing emergencies, and many seek out ways in which they can apply this expertise to areas that can enhance the safety of not only their communities, but communities nationwide.

Philanthropy

In addition to our ongoing company-sponsored events, we make every effort to support the personal service passions of our staff and often do special donations to organizations that have impacted our staff or their families.
